Viñales National Park, also known as Viñales Valley, is without a doubt one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in all of Cuba. It is an exclusive landscape nestled in the Sierra de los Órganos, where you can see the famous mogotes, small steep limestone mountains with rounded tops, a perfect place whether you are a climbing lover or if you just want to contemplate the emblematic plantations of Cuban tobacco. 💡Curiosities Viñales has the best example of a karstic valley that exists on the entire island. This enviable landscape has its origin during the Cretaceous, about 100 million years ago. Since then, the water has been modeling the rock, both on the surface and in the subsoil, forming a characteristic orography provided with large caves and mogotes, the main signs of its identity. Much of these caverns ended up collapsing, leaving only the characteristic worn walls that can be seen today. Here is the Great Cavern of Santo Tomás, the largest system of caves in all of Cuba. 🏆 Recognition World Heritage by UNESCO since 1999 🗺 How to get there? The Viñales National Park is very close to the capital of the province and the capital of Cuba, Havana. To get there you have several options, you can go with an excursion from Havana that visits the Valley of Viñales and sites such as the Palenque de los Cimarrones, the Casa del Veguero, the Mural of Prehistory, the Cueva del Indio, among others.
