University of Havana

This is the oldest university in all of Cuba and also one of the first in America. At the top of the steps in the center you can see a majestic sculpture of the Alma Mater. At the bottom of the steps of the University of Havana is the Monument to Julio Antonio Mella, dedicated to the student leader who founded the first Cuban Communist Party in 1925, assassinated by order of dictator Machado in Mexico City.
