The Soroa Orchid Garden houses the largest collection of orchids in all of Cuba. It has 130 species of native Cuban orchids and about 700 species from other parts of the world. This place, located in a small valley next to the Manantiales River in the municipality of Candelaria, is part of the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve. 💡Curiosities The orchid garden was established in 1943 by a Canarian lawyer who decided to build a garden in honor of his daughter and his wife. Said garden consisted only of orchids, imported from different parts of Asia, Central and South America; as well as many native species. Over the years, the garden grew and specialized more and more in orchids. It currently houses more than 20,000 specimens in about 35,000 square meters. 🏆 Recognition Declared national heritage. 🗺 How to get there?
